The Melandra House is a culture house, built οf stone as a big mansion. Its owner, Mustapha Kiralp, who was born in village Melandra in Pafos, is amongst the Cypriots who lost their houses and villages due to the violence and migration within the island. Too many years, Kiralp lived with the dream to go back to his house and his village. Afterwards, he understood and accepted that, he had no chances of returning back. His house and his village had already been destroyed. Consequently, he decided to build his house in Famagusta. The Melandra House you offers the chance to see original and old furniture and tools, used before 1950 in the rural life of Cyprus. Everyday, we are open from 9 a.m till 5 p.m. We offer you Cypriot breakfast, full of Cypriot tastes (including fried Halloumi, fried olives and many others). For our breakfast, from Monday till Friday, reservation is required. In weekends, no reservation is needed. With the Melandra House, we aim to keep the common values of Cypriots alive, and reflect the Cypriot culture. The area where we built the house did not belong to our Greek Cypriot compatriots before 1974.

However, we prefer to have in advance reservations. We also invite you to see our building reflecting the traditional village culture of Cyprus and our tools and furniture dating back (at least) to 1940’s.
